St Mary's Catholic Primary School

Live, Love, Believe

English

At St Mary's, we follow the National Curriculum which is a set of subjects and standards used by primary and secondary schools so children learn the same things. It covers what subjects are taught and the standards children should reach in each subject.

The link below will give you details:

However, we recognise that no school is the same and when planning our English curriculum, we take into account the needs of our children in our school community, their interests, local events or attractions while ensuring we deliver the National Curriculum requirements.

The document below gives more detail about what this looks like at St Mary's while the year group specific tabs give you a more detailed overview of the end of year expectations within English for that year group. You will see that each year builds upon and deepens the previous year's  teaching and knowledge.

English is led by Mrs Cass who will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding our  English curriculum. Your child's class teacher will be happy to answer any questions you may have about your child's progress.
