FOSMA News - Autumn 2020
This is a big ‘Hello’ to all carers and parents of the children of St Mary’s, in particular those of you who are new to our wonderful school: Welcome!
We are FOSMA, aka Friends of St Mary's, to which you ALL belong! Its us who put the ‘Fun’ in fundraising!
We pride ourselves on raising money for the fun stuff for our kids. Over the past few years alone we have paid for playground equipment, book gifts, school visits, theatre groups visiting the school, reception class PE bags, Year 6 leavers hoodies, ipads, Smart boards in the class rooms, sports day marquees and the list goes on! This fundraising is essential, not only for our children but it also brings us together as a school community!
Obviously this school year has started in a really unusual way. By now we would have had a school disco, a quiz night and would now be planning for our Christmas Fayre! This is particularly devastating to our already low funds! Since March this year we missed out on all fun events that we had planned; our annual cake sale at the IOW randonee, weekly cake and ice cream sales, Family Bingo, Race Night, School Disco, The Summer Fayre, the End of year BBQ and teachers vs pupils cricket match!
We now find ourselves with an account balance of just over £100.
Now as a collective effort we need to find fun, innovative and socially distanced ways of raising funds for our school!
FOSMA is all of us! Any ideas or support you can give would be amazing. You can do as little or as much as you like. Sometimes just your support is enough.
Keep an eye out on our notice board, it’s the first one you see inside the gate.
We will be putting up details of forthcoming events and a list of parent contacts for each class bubble!
Hopefully by the end of this school year we will be able to enjoy a BBQ together on the school field but until then we just have to do the best we can!
Any excess that we have will be donated to the Food Bank or the Making Christmas special team who are distributing to local families in need of support this Christmas.
