Return to School March 8th information letter

25th February 2021

Dear parents and carers,

As you will know, all primary schools in England will open to all children on Monday 8th March and we couldn’t be happier about this decision!

With regard to the organisation of the school day, it will be similar to that of the autumn term with attendance at school compulsory as set out by the government.

  • We will continue to operate the class bubble system, with staggered drop off/pick up times and staggered, separate break/lunch times. Reception and Y1 classes will be taught in their separate class bubbles.

  • There will be no change to the drop off and pick up times and arrangements: please leave your children at the middle gate for them to go up to the playground on their own where they will be supervised until collected by their class teachers. At your pick up time, children will be walked to the middle gate to be collected unless they are walking home (Y5 & 6 with written permissions only). Please do not arrive early to collect your child as this increases congestion around the school gates.

  • ALL adults who drop off/pick up from the school gate are required to wear a face covering while on school grounds and to observe social distancing guidelines, maintaining a safe distance from each other and other children. If you are exempt from wearing face coverings (as per government guidance) please maintain at least 2m distance from others. Please also leave the school site as soon as possible to reduce congestion.

  • School uniform and school shoes must be worn, except on your child’s PE days when they should come to school in their PE kits and trainers.

  • Children should only bring the essentials to school with them: lunch box & water bottle, coat, a bag (only if necessary).  All other items (pens, pencils etc) will be provided for their own individual use in class and must remain in school.

  • Breakfast Club and After School Club will operate as normal. Please book your child in in the usual way.

  • Our Sports coach will return w/b 8th March: details of his after-school clubs will be circulated later. There will be NO other after school clubs run by school staff until the summer term.

  • Guitar lessons (with Rob Carr) will continue online until the end of this term. He hopes to be back in school at the start of the summer term.

  • Current advice is that primary school children do not need to wear face coverings in school. You may wish your child to wear a face covering on the way to and from school but these should be removed once they are in school please and kept in a sealed plastic bag.

  • We will continue to prompt children to wash their hands thoroughly or use hand sanitiser throughout the school day. Many children brought small bottles of hand sanitiser in to school last term for their own use and I would highly recommend this for all children now. We will remind them during the school day and would ask that you too impress upon them the importance of using their hand sanitiser frequently and washing their hands after using the toilet.

We may need to alter these arrangements if there is new government guidance published or if we need to adjust to changes within school due to staff absence. We will let you know as soon as we can if we need to close a class due to staff absence.

I hope this answers any questions you may have about the return to school. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further information.

We are all so looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday 8th!

With best wishes

Alison Langridge
