This week is Mental Health week and Team Attenborough have been spending time outside with nature in our woods, creating art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.
Internet Safety Day
This year’s theme was “All fun and games?”
Are all games fun or are they dangerous?
Go only onto age appropriate games and websites.
Are you getting bullied online? If you are then: tell a trusted adult; report them; block them and if someone is being rude to you then change your username or password.
If you are in an online game do not use bullying words, do not swear at other people even if they swear at you, do not be rude, do not scam.
Be kind to others as if you were in the same room as them. Respect and show positive relationships online.
Treat people how you want to be treated.

Team Attenborough learned about food hygiene, perfected their cutting skills and made healthy choices when making their Maya tortilla!
As part of their topic on the Maya, Team Attenborough have been learning all about the Maya number system!
We have been listening to a variety of authors virtually telling us about the books they write and what gives them inspiration. We also had our own masterclass with illustrator Thiago de Moraes for an interactive live drawing session full of festive fun.
This week in Year 5 we have been travelling around the world. On Monday we learnt about the festival of St Lucia which is celebrated in Sweden.
The next day we found out how the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas. Did you know it is celebrated on January 7th?
The next day we chose a country and found out how they celebrated Christmas.
Some of the countries the children chose were Germany, Spain, Botswana, Mongolia and Japan. We used the laptops to carry out our research and wrote our fact files.
The children have been busy in this first week back discussing a team name for their class. The name had to be that of someone who has made a positive impact or contribution either recently or in the past. They chose David Attenborough for their team name because of his huge achievements in the natural world - his countless televison programmes which bring the wonders of the world into our lives and his determination to raise awareness of the impact of climate change on those delicate and diverse habitats which he has spent so many years studying.
Each class made a team flag which will be displayed in class throughout the year and illustrated it with what they agreed were the characteristics of a good team.
