Team Rashford Year 1

Last week, we visited The Wildlife Trust and had a wonderful day learning about lots of different animals which linked to our Science topic. The children loved seeing the animals and got some hands on experience too! We even found time for an ice-cream!

Swimming lessons!

Summer term letter to parents

Spring term letter to parents

Team Rashford have been enjoying their "Great Fire of London" topic this half term.

They started by observing a small fire which Mr Reeve made , exploring the senses of sight, hearing, smell and taste.

They then visited the fire station to find out what firefighters do and compared how they work today with what it was like in 1666.

The topic finished with a great bread making day - recreating the bakery where the Great Fire of London started.

What fantastic breads they made - and thanks to Mrs Edgerton and all the parents who helped Mrs Knight and the children on the day!

Crazy Hair Day!

Welcome to Year 1 letter

The children have been busy in this first week back discussing a team name for their class. The name had to be that of someone who has made a positive impact or contribution either recently or in the past.

They decided on Team Rashford, afer Marcus Rashford. While already well known for his footballing skills, the children were impressed by his determination in persuading the government to ensure that no child went hungry during the national lockdowns.

Each class has made a team flag which will be displayed in class throughout the year and illustrated this with what they consider to be the characteristics of a successful team.
